Exploring the wild and windswept Great Ocean Road
A long weekend on thE Great Ocean Road...
We headed south from Melbourne, stopping at Airey's Pub in Airey's Inlet for their delicious food, wine selection + locally brewed beer.
Between the Otways forest and the crashing waves of the great Southern ocean sits Ocean House Lorne. A striking coastal home shaped from concrete and timber and designed by architect Rob Mills, with views of the ocean and backing onto beautiful gum tree forest. The house was a perfect base for exploring the area, plus the resident birds & kangaroos make for pretty awesome entertainment
Caffeinate at Moons Espresso Bar and The Bottle of Milk
Pop by Wye General Store in Wye River as you head south
The Twelve Apostles are the star attraction (and justifiably so). If the weather is good, go at sunset when the skies turn pepto pink and even the sea of selfie sticks fails to detract from the endless miles of stunning coastline punctuated by hulking limestone stacks. Gibson Steps provides a gorgeous overlook of the southern ocean and golden beach below and Loch Ard Gorge is breathtaking.
